After a successful launch on Entre of the Human Behaviour Community this week, I have also joined invite only app BlueSky. BlueSky is founded by Jack Dorsey founder of twitter and is a decentralised platform which in invite only right now. It reminds me of the early Clubhouse days with some great people on there right now. Being lucky enough to be an early user I shall try and get invites for people wanting to join. I shall be releasing the invited over on Entre. It’s what all the tech elites have been talking about this week with a lot of buzz on social media.
The big news in Digital Health and Wellness-
Apple is reportedly working on a paid AI-powered health coach service called "Quartz" that will use data from Apple Watch to provide tailored coaching programs for users.
This will be focused on personalised programmes for- Nutrition, Exercise and Sleep.
Additionally, Apple is developing an emotion tracker. These new health initiatives build on Apple's existing set of health-focused tools, including the medication tracking feature and Fitness Plus service. The company is also reportedly making progress on noninvasive blood glucose monitoring.
This could be super powerful for the future of AI coaching.
In other news Amazon shut down their Halo devision, a device that was modelled on the Whoop and claimed to do mood tracking through voice and also report body fat percentage. Will Ahmed the CEO of Whoop who I was lucky enough to interview expressed his dissatisfaction back in 2021 when they copied the design and since Whoop has gone from strength to strength with the release of the stress monitor and recently the new strength trainer.
I started to use the strength trainer this week and I am impressed. As someone who enjoys playing tennis but also weight lifting I felt it was very difficult to track my strain from weightlifting activities on any app/ wearable. The new algorithm is impressive at quantifying strain for weight lifting as well as in app workout which I can really see expanding and being super useful for training protocols. I see this as a key differentiating feature.
Finally I attended the Oura ring webinar and how to integrate it in your clinical practice run partly by my friend and fellow advisor to the start up Crescent Health. As an Oura ring user and also having interpreted the data for several of my sleep clients I found it super useful of the possibility of more doctors using the data from wearables in giving better insights to their patients.
